Eurasian magpieElster Pica pica
Family: Crows, jays, and magpies
An unmistakable black-and-white crow with a very long tail that glints green and blue in good light. Magpies are bold and inquisitive, walk with a swaggering gait and build domed nests of sticks in tall trees. They live in pairs or small groups and have become common in German towns and suburbs, where they take everything from insects and fruit to scraps.
