Canada gooseKanadagans Branta canadensis
Family: Ducks, geese, and waterfowl
A heavy goose, bigger than a greylag, brown-bodied with a long black neck and a white strap across the chin and cheek. Families graze park lawns, meadows and gravel-pit shores, and fly in noisy skeins between roost and feeding ground at dawn and dusk. Introduced to Germany from North America, it now breeds widely, stays all year and is joined by winter visitors.
