The largest European tit, with a glossy black head, white cheeks and a yellow breast divided by a black stripe that is broader in males. Great tits are loud and confident, singing a two-note teacher-teacher from late winter onwards. They breed in tree holes and nest boxes and are common all year across Germany, from forests to inner cities.
