A slim, elegant gull of the Mediterranean with pale grey upperparts, a dark red bill with a black band near the tip and dark eyes that give it a gentle expression. Audouin's gulls fish at night close to the surface and breed on rocky islands and beaches. Once one of the rarest gulls in the world, the species has recovered along the Spanish coast and does not occur in Germany.
