Little egretSeidenreiher Egretta garzetta
Family: Herons, egrets, and bitterns
All white and about two-thirds the size of a grey heron, the little egret has a black bill, black legs and bright yellow feet that stand out as it wades. It dashes after fish in shallow lagoons, ditches and estuaries, stirring the bottom with one foot to flush them. In Germany it appears as a rare migrant, most often in late summer and early autumn.
