A bunting with a grey head boldly striped with black, an orange-brown body and a white-edged tail. Rock buntings live on sunny, rocky slopes with scattered bushes and vineyards, feeding on seeds and insects on the ground. Common in southern Europe, they breed in Germany only in the warmest valleys of the Mosel and Rhine and are absent from most of the country.
